COME TO BULGARIA

The Republic of Bulgaria is located in Southeastern Europe. With a landmass of 110,994 Square Kilometers (42,855 Square Miles), Bulgaria is Europe's 16th largest Country.

Some Historians believe that the name, Bulgaria derives from the word, Bulgars, which is the name of an ancient Turkic Tribe. Yet, some other Bulgarian Historians refute the association of the Bulgars as a Turkic Tribe! They cite Bulgaria’s linguistic connections to the ancient Persian Tribes, specifically, from the Northern Part of the Modern day Iran, as evidence to assert their view on Bulgaria’s rich human history.

Notwithstanding Bulgaria’s roots, it has a long and ancient tale to tell. This beautiful land has witnessed the invasion of many empires, including the Persians, Greeks, Romans and even Mongolians. In turn, Bulgaria became a powerful empire of its own back in 681 AD, which dominated most of the Balkan Countries.
